Pale garnet color, this wine bursts with delicate aromas of red berries, lavender, damp, leather and tar. Lean and lithe this delicate expression of Nebbiolo has wonderfully balanced tannins and length.

One of the finest alternatives to Barolo and Barbaresco. The wines of Carema have a elegance which belies the powerful structure these wines have. In the case of this particulat Riserva, it is probably more Barolo than many modern wines of Barolo - ageing for 48 months following a cask fermentation and a minimum of 30 months in large Slavonian oak botti. The use of large vessels allows for incredibly slow micro-oxygenation - protecting the true character of the fruit and the terroir, whilst allowing for integration of tannins over a longer period of time. It is this process which ensures that the finest Nebbiolo wines of Piedmont - including this one from the Carema DOC - can be laid down to develop and improve for considerable periods of time.
