CVNE Monopole Unoaked Rioja Blanco 2023

Bright pale yellow in colour with green hints at the rim. The nose shows aromas reminiscent of spring flowers and white fruits such as pear, apple and white currant. The palate is silky and pleasing due to perfect balance between structure and acidity.

Monopole is Spain's oldest white wine brand, founded in 1915. At the time, Spanish white wines (and especially those of Rioja) were often made in an oxidative style, with lots of flor influence - much like wines of Jerez (Sherry). The brothers who founded Monopole were lovers of Burgundy, so wanted to move away from the classic Spanish style and make modern, 'clean' wines with a purity of fruit. This fits the bill perfectly - bright and crisp with lovel fruit and floral notes.
